Overview

We are currently looking for a Machine Operator to join our client in Reading.

Machine operators hold an important role. You need to be a good team player, able to communicate effectively with other operatives, setters and supervisors and at all levels in our clients company. You will be responsible for supporting the setters and there is the ability to learn to set and progress within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To be responsible for the quality of parts produced and ensure they conform to company standards and product drawings
  • To ensure all the company procedures are followed with respect to product checking
  • To run machines to achieve cycle times as recorded on the route cards
  • Assist Setter/Team Leader in improving changeover times, machine running efficiencies and tooling set ups
  • Operate punch presses
  • Keep work areas clean and tidy to help minimise the risk of accidents

Candidate Requirements: 

  • Numerate and literate
  • Able to read technical drawings
  • Able to use measuring equipment (micrometres/verniers)
  • Experience of manufacturing best practice (SMED 5S etc.)
  • Counter balance fork truck licence
  • First aid
  • Manufacturing, engineering or mechanical background
  • PC skills
  • Sheet metal or fabrication experience

Working Hours & Pay Rates: 

  • £14.40 per hour
  • Night Shift- Shift work 10pm – 6am Sunday – Thursday
  • Work 37.5 hours but paid for 40 hours (Tea breaks paid for)
